Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, welcomed on Saturday the US issuing of two executive orders lifting economic sanctions on Sudan.
Abul Gheit said that the US step, which was called for by the league numerous times, was an important and a legitimate call by Sudan and Arab countries, the league' spokesman, Mahmoud Afifi, said in a press release.
The Arab League chief also noted that such move would help Sudan, as an Arab and African country, to recover economically, expressing hopes that the US and Sudan would continue their dialogue and cooperation for the benefit of the region.
