The Arab League welcomed Wednesday a decision by the Council of Ministers of the EU, reiterating commitment to fully implementing EU legislation regarding products made in Israeli settlements.
All agreements between the EU and Israel should clearly state that they are not applicable in lands occupied by Israel in 1967, the EU council said
The AL greatly appreciates this important European step that emphasizes commitment to legitimacy and international law, said AL assistant secretary general Dr Saeid Abu Aly.
The decision also reflects the values of justice and freedom, he added.
It comes to stress the illegitimacy of Israeli settlements and Israel's occupation, Abu Aly said.
The AL is looking forward to having a more effective European role to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state, he noted.
