A delegation of Arab Parliamentarians, under the chairmanship of Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, has participated in an international symposium in Sousse, Republic of Tunisia, on the theme "promoting peace and dialogue values".
The event is co-organised by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, ISESCO, the Arab Organisation for Education, Culture and Science, ALECSO, and the Tunisian Ministry of Education, with the participation of Habib Essid, Tunisian Prime Minister, and Mrs. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of the Republic of Malta, as guest of honour.
The delegation includes Dr. Ahmed Al Mashriqi, Chairman of the Arab Parliament Committee of Foreign and Political Affairs and National Security, and Dr. Mustafa Shnikat, a Member of the Arab Parliament.
In his speech at the opening of the symposium, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Jarwan said that the Arab Parliament, as a representative of the peoples of 22 Arab countries, pays great attention to international cooperation in order to achieve peace and security and the fight against terrorism, as well as strengthening economic integration for the benefit of the peoples of the world.
Al Jarwan stressed the need to promote security and peace and to extinguish the fire of crisis in the region as a key to strengthening the security and peace in the whole world.
He condemned the ugly phenomenon of terrorism, which, he said, does not have any link to the tolerant teachings of the Islamic religion or Arab authentic values and customs.
