The Arab Parliament on Tuesday stressed its support to the Palestinian move in the US Security Council to set a specific timeframe to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement adopted by its members at their session today, the Arab Parliament underlined backing to the Palestinian people to confront Israeli occupations by all possible means.
The Arab Parliament supports Palestinians in their battle to defend Jerusalem, and its identity and religious and Islamic sanctities, and reject all attempts of the Zionist entity, extremists and Jewish settlers aimed at breaking into Al-Aqsa Mosque and desecrating its sanctities, the statement noted.
The Arab legislature at the same time underscored the necessity of promoting Palestine's national unity, lifting siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, opening crossings and enabling the national unity government to impose its power and rebuild the Strip destroyed by Israeli aggressions, it pointed out.
According to the statement, the Arab Parliament underlined the importance of protecting Palestinian people and rejecting all forms of Israeli settlements and all attempts to turn the struggle into a religious conflict.
The statement went on to say that the Arab Parliament welcomed resolutions by parliaments of UK, France, Ireland, Sweden and Spain that recognized a Palestinian state, calling on other parliaments across the globe to follow suit.
The parliament urged these countries to translate their recognitions practically as they would be important moves contribute to ending the Israeli occupation and helping Palestinians determine their destiny in accordance with the resolutions of the international legitimacy and the UN conventions, it added.
