Arab region sees terrorist acts due to extremist discourse

Secretary-General of Arab Interior Ministers Council Mohammed bin Ali Kuman said here on Wednesday that the Arab region is witnessing "critical security conditions", primarily aggravating terrorist acts.
Addressing the 38th Conference for Arab Police and Security Chiefs, currently hosted by Tunisia, to discuss strengthening cooperation among police apparatuses, Kuman said that extremist and sectarian discourse, tensions, disputes and the spread of weapons cause such terrorist acts.
He noted that this is an unprecedented matter.
For his part, Tunisian Interior Minister Lotfi Bin Jeddou stressed the vigilance and readiness of security apparatuses in his country, indicating that these apparatuses have watchful eyes to monitor and foil any terrorist attacks amid the growing number of jihadists in the Arab region.
Morocco's Abdullah bin Mansour, the conference president, referred to the accelerated developments that the Arab region has been experiencing, in all domains, "due to its strategic location".
The conference discusses a host of important topics such as the modernized Arab security strategy, a draft Arab strategy on boosting the role of community police and on the culture of human rights and security action.
It also focuses on the recommendations of sector security conferences next year and reviews distinguished security experiments in some member states.
The event tackles an Arab plan aimed at developing the performances of security apparatuses.
A Kuwaiti delegation of the Interior Ministry, headed by Major-General Abdulfattah Al-Ali, along with a galaxy of senior security officials from various Arab States, is taking part in the two-day event.
Representatives of the Arab League, Arab Human Rights Committee, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Arab Police Sporting Federation, Arab Tourism Organization and the International Criminal Police Organization are also present in the conference.
