The Arab summit, to open on Saturday, will approve a draft resolution amending the statute of the Arab Peace and Security Council, MENA has learned.
The ten-item draft sets the tasks of the council to boost the stability and security of member states without meddling with internal affairs of members, encouraging democracy and rule of law and protecting human rights.
The council is also tasked with taking appropriate collective measures against any attack threatening an Arab country.
Under the new amendments, the council, to convene at a ministerial level twice a year, will form an Arab peacekeeping force to be ready for deployment in any time of need.
