The 56th meeting of the Arab Transport Ministers Council began on Wednesday with the participation of delegations of eight Arab countries.
Addressing the opening session, Transport Minister Gall Saeed underlined the importance of achieving inter-Arab integration in the transport domain to face the current unprecedented economic and political challenges facing the Arab region.
He urged officials in transport bodies in Arab countries to take immediate and serious steps to activate air, maritime and land transport cooperation.
The volume of inter-Arab cooperation in the transport domain is still below expectations despite the distinguished geographic location of the Arab world, he noted.
He underlined the importance of linking between Arab ports to achieve high profits.
Over two days, the council will discuss a draft agreement regulating the movement of cargo and passengers between Arab countries, setting up training centers for transport and logistics in Arab countries and air transport cooperation.
