The Arab world is reliving the victorious moments of the nationalization of the Suez Canal and the establishment of the High Dam just as Egypt opens its New Suez Canal, leader of the Lebanese Union Party Abdel Rahim Murad said Wednesday.
"The Suez Canal is not considered an economic project only," Murad told MENA, adding that the great project also has a political aspect. It will help restore Egypt's leading role at the national and international levels, he said.
"The decision to establish a new canal and the quick local funding and achievement stressed the [Egyptian] people's trust in the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi."
The Arab peoples are looking forward to seeing Egypt restore its leading role at the Arab level to be able to solve Arab problems, Murad said.
