
Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi underlined the need of holding the Gulf Summit in Doha, given the developments which are taking place in the region.
In a press release Monday, Arabi hailed ongoing efforts by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in order to heal the rift and restore Arab solidarity.
Arabi along with his accompanying delegation are scheduled to head for Qatar today evening to take part in the GCC summit, which is due to kick off on Tuesday.
Arabi's visit comes upon an invitation from Qatari Foreign Minister Khalid al-Attiyah.
