Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief and Defense Minister Colonel General Sedqi Sobhi on Friday congratulated Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar on the occasion of the Police Day on January 25.
In his message, the Defense Minister hailed efforts and sacrifices of policemen to maintain security of the country and the people.
The minister stressed respect to the bravery showed by the policemen in the face of the British occupation in 1952.
The day commemorates and is a remembrance of the scores of police officers killed and more wounded when they refused the British occupation's demands to hand over weapons and evacuate the Ismailia Police Station on 25 January 1952.
