
Seven criminals were arrested by the elements of the National Gendarmerie in possession of 20 kg of cannabis resin, Saturday in Oran (432-km West of Algiers) whereas a drug trafficker from Morocco was arrested while attempting to introduce 4.5kg of cannabis resin in the national territory, said Sunday the Ministry of National Defense in a communiqué.
“As part of the measures to strengthen border security and the fight against organized crime, elements of the national Gendarmerie coming under the operational sector of Oran (2nd military region) arrested yesterday, 11 July 2015, seven criminals including three (3) of African nationalities in possession of 20 kg of cannabis resin, cold weapons and 37 Molotov cocktails,” added the source.
Similarly, “elements of the border guards coming under the operational sector of Tlemcen arrested a Moroccan drug trafficker who attempted to smuggle 4.5 kilograms of cannabis resin in the national territory,” said the ministry.
“At the level of the 4th military region, a detachment coming under the operational sector of El Oued foiled an attempt to smuggle a quantity of fuel of 1,600 litres,” said the communiqué.
