
Azhar Imam Sheikh Ahmed El Tayyeb on Sunday cast his ballot at the Heliopolis Preparatory School for Girls at the start of voting in the second phase of the parliamentary elections.
Voters at the school circled the imam who was keen to stand in the queue to wait for his turn to vote. He assured them that Egypt will continue with its efforts for reconstruction and development.
He also asserted that Al Azhar will continue with its mission to clarify the correct teachings of Islam and its moderate values away from any extremist thoughts.
Azhar Imam called on citizens to take part in voting as part of their national duty towards their country.
