Azhar sheikh praises Kuwaiti emir efforts to back Arab solidarity

Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb praised the stances of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed al Sabah and his continued support for Arab Solidarity and Egypt in it war on terror.

The Grand Imam's statements came during a meeting with the emir at al Sif Palace in the Kuwaiti capital in the presence of the crown prince and senior officials.

A statement issued by the Grand Imam office in Cairo said the Kuwaiti emir praised Tayyeb's efforts to highlight the role of Al Azhar in the Arab and Islamic world and the tolerance of Islam.

He also praised the grand imam's efforts to shoulder the responsibility of confronting extremists who seek to tarnish the image of Islam.

Tayyeb arrived in Kuwait Sunday to be honored and participate in the celebrations of Kuwait, the capital of Islamic culture 2016.

Tayyeb was welcomed at he airport by number of high-level Kuwaiti officials.

The celebration aims at spreading Islamic culture, reviving it, highlighting its humanitarian values and activating dialogue among civilizations.
