The Kingdom of Bahrain on Friday underlined commitment to human rights and freedoms of expression and political practices, through an integrated legal system.
The remark follows a statement by the French Foreign Ministry yesterday on the Secretary-General of the Bahraini Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society being investigated by the concerned authorities "regarding several breaches and violations of the law." "The Kingdom of Bahrain has established an integrated system of laws that preserves all human rights," the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement today.
The system "promotes all kinds of freedoms and ensures freedom of opinion and expression and political practice, including real and constructive dialogue through the legislative authority as a constitutional institution that is expressive and guarantor of the interests of Bahraini society, which is represented with all its components in the Parliament and the Shura Council," it added.
The Bahraini statement stressed that the case is "related to offenses against state security and the safety of the citizens of the Kingdom, such as inciting violence and other abuses, which any State cannot overlook or stand silent towards." "The Kingdom is fully committed to the principles of international law, which prohibits interference in the internal affairs of States," the Ministry said. It also emphasized that "the legal proceedings in the above-mentioned issue is handled by the judicial authority in the Kingdom of Bahrain and it is a matter of its internal affairs."
