Bahrain has welcomed the United Nations Security Council adoption of Resolution 2216 on the Republic of Yemen, under Chapter VII, considering it "a crucial and necessary step for restoring the security and stability of Yemen and preserving its territorial unity and integrity."
"The Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed that the resolution reflects a vast international understanding of the humanitarian and security situation in Yemen and embodies a global agreement on confronting acts of violence and terrorism and underpinning the pillars of legitimacy, represented in President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi and his government," the statement said.
Bahrain also emphasized that the resolution will pave the way for the completion of the political process and allow all the sides that are keen to preserve the country’s security and stability to return to the dialogue, on the basis of what has been agreed upon by Yemen, the region and the world, most importantly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the national dialogue and the relevant United Nations Security Council’s resolutions.
The statement also affirmed its support for all the steps that will enable the legitimate leadership to perform its duties, spreading out security all over the country and bringing about development and stability for the brotherly people of Yemen, It also calls on all Yemeni sides and UN member-states to assume their responsibility and implement the UNSC resolution in all honesty and transparency," the statement said.
