
Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al-Hassan, today provided an update on the arson attack on the Jid Hafs municipality building that occurred on 16 October 2014. He said that four suspects have been arrested for their involvement in the crime.
He told a Bahrain TV that the building’s security guard reported a number of individuals had climbed the building enclosing wall, they threatened and attacked him after he tried to stop them. The individuals then forced their way into the building through the main door, poured gasoline in areas and set fire to the building, where the security guard suffered suffocation due to rising smoke.
He said a Civil Defence force arrived at the scene and put out the fire and the security guard was transported for treatment. Investigation was initiated and Public Prosecution was notified.
He added investigation led to the arrest of four suspects who confessed to committing the crime and were referred to the Public Prosecution.
The search continues to bring the rest of accomplices to justice.
