A comprehensive scheme has been put in place to regulate traffic and ensure safety of road users on the New Year’s Eve.
The plan has been unveiled by Director General of the General Directorate of Traffic Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa . It consists in a set of regulations including more police patrols and massive presence of traffic policemen in areas which are expected to witness traffic congestion.
Traffic shifting may also be needed to handle traffic jams, Shaikh Nasser said, pointing out that the scheme also includes prolonging work in traffic accident offices at the Exhibition and Um Al Hasam centres. He also urged drivers to comply with the traffic regulations, avoid tampering with people’s life and properties and cooperate with traffic officers to ensure safety of road users.
