Northern Governor Ali bin Al-Shaikh Abdul Hussain Al-Asfoor has strongly denounced foreign interference in Bahrain's domestic affairs, noting that they contravene all international norms and laws and diplomatic agreements between countries.
He said that Bahrain is a sovereign country with an independent Judiciary.
He stressed that the condemnation of all forms of meddling in national affairs by the citizens and NGOs across the Northern Governorate testifies to the popular rejection of such interference.
He called upon "other countries' to be committed to the principles of good neighbourliness, and the regional and international norms and agreements which affirm respect for countries' sovereignty.
"We reject such interference, and demand it stop immediately for it creates an atmosphere of incitement and sparks tension in Bahrain," he said.
He added that such acts, which are "rejected by all", will cement unity among the members of the one-family Bahraini people, strengthen cohesion among the leadership, government and people and their unity in confronting plots staged against the kingdom.
Meanwhile, the Governor lauded the sound approach adopted by the kingdom to hold accountable whoever seeks to undermine national unity using any form of incitement for the sake of enforcing the law and reinforcing respect for the state.
