The development of the deprived and socially challenged Bahraini children is close to the heart of His Majesty the King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, said Dr Mustafa Al Sayed, Secretary General of the Royal Charities Organisation.
The secretary general visited the Hidd LuLu Hypermarket for a first hand view of the 'Summer Skills camp 2014' iniated by the management of the hypermarket under the patronage of The Royal Charities Organisation. After a tour of the camp, in which about 50 children participated, Dr Sayed said he appreciated the efforts of Juzer Rupawala, Regional Director of Lulu Hypermarket and Yusufali M A, Managing Director, Emke Group, in supporting the deprived children with their infrastructure and people.
"The children get to exercise creativity and learn soft skills and engage in creative activities. Usually summer camp programmes are for well to do children and done in other countries," said the RCO secretary general.
The children get their grades and are given stars for their activities. Even participation daily wins them stars, he added. "Seeing their names on the honours list is a source of inspiration to attend and perform at the best of their abilities. Some of the children talked about the last camp and the joy it gave them," he said.
The summercamp at LuLu is an ongoing initiative and will be held annually," said Rupawala. For the hypermarket management it is a corporate social responsibilty with a difference, he added.
Engaging in activities that benefit the society and the locality the hypermarket is in is a strong vision of the management," the regional director added.
The camp began on August 4, 2014 and is expected to run till August 21.
