
Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Al Hassan has chaired the 31st meeting of the National Disaster Management Committee, in the presence of the panel’s members
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the recommendations of the last meeting. After that, the panel discussed issues on the meeting's agenda. The General Director of Civil Defence briefed the committee on the advantages and challenges of the national exercise that was held in Al Dur area on January 11 with the participation of the Interior and Health Ministries, Municipalities, the Electricity and Water Authority, Bahrain Defence Force, the National Guard, the Civil Aviation, the Supreme Environment Council and the National Disaster Management Center.
The Public Security Chief underlined the importance of such drills in testing contingency plans and assessing capabilities for effective response to emergencies and crises. He highlighted the importance to form a specialised team to evaluate emergency procedures.
Chief Executive of the Supreme Environment Council Dr. Mohammed Bin Daina called to set the national strategy to deal with radioactive and nuclear incidents as a reference for pollution and dangerous substances accidents.
Then, the committee reviewed key issues on the agenda, including the National Earthquake Center that will be opened soon was reviewed as well as the exercise that was held at Bahrain International Airport at the end of 2014.
