Bahrainis today headed in big numbers to embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions in 29 towns abroad to cast their ballots in the second round of the parliamentary and municipal elections 2014.
"Overseas polling centres opened at 09:00 AM to allow Bahrainis to elect their representatives in 34 constituencies before closing at 07:00 PM local time", Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission President, High Elections Committee Executive Director Abdulla bin Hassan Al-Bouainain said.
In a statement tonight, he stressed the success of the overseas runoff elections, pointing out that the number of voters had exceeded the voter turn-out dating back to 2010 overseas by-elections by the double.
He announced that the overseas election results would be added to the results of the runoff elections, scheduled to be held in Bahrain on Saturday (November29), extending thanks to Bahrainis living abroad for voting and contributing to the success of the polls. He also thanked Bahrain embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions.
