Cabinet forms panel to address private taxi crisis

The cabinet has decided to form a ministerial panel to discuss the legality of operating private cars as taxi using smart mobile applications like Uber and Careem.
The committee will be headed by the minister of justice with the membership of the ministers of transport, finance, social solidarity, investment and local development.
The panel will propose ways to address the problem at all levels. Its proposals will be referred to the next cabinet meeting.
Taxi drivers have staged protests on some main roads in Cairo and Giza to demand a shutdown of private taxi operators like Uber and Careem
