Egypt congratulated the Libyan people as Libyan rivals achieved the hoped-for reconciliation by signing a political agreement at the end of their dialogue in Morocco on Thursday night.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry voiced satisfaction about this important development and the efforts exerted by UN envoy for Libya Bernardino Leon.
The Egyptian State was keen on providing all needed support for the negotiations over the past few months with the aim of rendering the process a success, preserving Libya's sovereignty, achieving security and stability, providing services and combating terrorism in the Libyan territories, the statement read.
The statement highlighted the importance of enhancing the current positive stance in order for the Libyan government and institutions to be able to overcome challenges.
Egypt will continue to be standing with Libyan brothers until they achieve their aspirations, the statement concluded.
Last night, the UN envoy for Libya announced a national unity government for Libya after months of difficult talks between the North African country's two rival governments.
