Cairo Security Chief Khaled Abdel Aal checked on security forces tasked with securing churches in different parts of the capital.
The surprise tour, that took place Saturday evening, comes in implementation of Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar's directives to secure Copts' celebrations of the Christmas.
The security top official gave directives to prevent the presence of any car or motorbike in the surrounding of churches.
He also ordered continued combing of areas around churches to make sure no explosives planted there.
Some 27 Copts, mainly women and children, were killed and around 45 others were injured in a suicide attack targeting Boutroseya Church earlier this month in Cairo’s Abbassiya district.
He also directed examining the IDs of all churchgoers as a precautionary measure.
