Calm prevails in Qalyubia

A state of calm prevailed in the vicinity of Qalyubia City Hall's building after security bodies had managed to disperse a rally, staged by some political powers in the governorate. Demonstrators had staged a protest against the appointment of Dr Hossam Abu-Bakr, an Islamist, as Qalyubia Governor. In a related development, a security source denied news reports, fanned by some media outlets that some protesters attacked the governorate's main building and its offices. Work is regular at the governorate, the source said.
