The panel assigned to put into force a ceasefire between presidential guards and Shiite Houthi fighters reached a decision to suspend clashes between the two sides as of 4:30 (Yemen local time).
Earlier, Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi decided to form the panel which groups Yemeni Defense Minister Mahmoud al Subaihi, Interior Minister Galal al Rowaishan, Houthi adviser to Yemeni president Saleh al Samaad and Rebel leader Abdulmalik al Huthi's bureau chief Mahdi al Mashat.
The Houthis, who want more rights for the country's Zaydi Shiite Muslim sect, seized most of the capital in September, and have since advanced on predominantly Sunni areas in central and western Yemen.
