A group of Houthi militants loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh have entered al Dalae city in southern Yemen after fierce clashes with tribes who support President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
Fourteen Houthi elements and five tribesmen were killed in the confrontation.
Houthi militants attempted to infiltrate into the city but were stopped by the tribes, sources with the southern tribes said Monday.
The Houthi group is seeking to further advance in Dalae city to open a supply route in Lahaj governorate in a bid to support elements moving toward Aden.
