The Council of Gulf International Relations (COGIR) blamed the terrorist incident in Eker, in which a security officer was killed, on "masterminds and leaders of the terrorist organisations-be they field leaders or those plotting or monitoring the operations-or pro-foreign regimes Imams who are conferring religious legitimacy on these terror acts." "The gang-like and military methods of such organisations undoubtedly prove that they have received professional military training abroad to shake up Bahrain's stability and efface its Arab identity and history," it added, stressing that "those who do not condemn violence and terror acts from religious rostrums are accomplices in those crimes which are targeting the Bahraini and GCC community, in general, and have to be held accountable and stopped from doing so. Secretary General of COGIR-Bahrain branch and Head of the Gulf Association for Press and Free Media (GAP&FM)-Bahrain branch Mo'nes Al-Mordi said: "We have repeatedly warned that foreign parties abroad are orchestrating and monitoring the terrorist acts in Bahrain and neighbouring countries. Targeting security officers, making bombs, hurling Molotov Cocktails, blocking roads, terrorizing citizens, targeting the expatriate communities and religious fatwas clearly and categorically substantiate what has been stated previously." Mr. Al-Mordi went on to say that what is being done by one of the societies in Bahrain has nothing to do with democracy or reform as those acts threaten the life of Bahraini citizens, their businesses and economic interests. He affirmed that any religious leader who does not condemn terrorism and violence is an accomplice in terrorism, violence and crimes hitting the Bahraini society.
