
High-level contacts are being held with the Sudanese relevant authorities to secure the return of Egyptian fishermen to their homeland as soon as possible, affirmed the Foreign Ministry on Saturday.
The ministry is holding high-level contacts with the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo and the relevant bodies in Sudan and Egypt to secure the return of as many as 100 Egyptian fishermen, who were detained earlier for trespassing Sudan's territorial waters, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aati told MENA in exclusive statements.
Abdel Aati said that he is personally following up the situation and the conditions of the detained Egyptian fishermen and ordered the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum and the General Consulate in Port Sudan to provide all forms of support and care to the fishermen.
