The Cairo Criminal Court upheld during a session Sunday a decision issued by public prosecutor Nabil Sadek against 26 persons charged with corruption in wheat deals.
According to the decision, the assets and property of owners of wheat silos and barns and their wives and underage children, as well as officials in various agricultural departments will be temporarily seized until investigations into the case are finalized.
They had been charged in September, in official reports, with siphoning off and facilitating the seizure of nearly 84 million pounds.
The prosecutor general had issued a decision banning the defendants from travel abroad for involvement in violations related the wheat corruption case.
