Damietta Governor Ismail Taha said Wednesday that the green light was given to organize six exhibitions of small-scale
manufacturers in six upper Egypt governorates.
Organizing the exhibitions comes in accordance with an agreement between the governorate and Trade and Industry Minister Tareeq Qabeel as well as Local Development Minister Ahmed Badr Eddin.
The furniture exhibitions are set to be organized in Fayyoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Assiut, Sohag along with Qena.
Preparations for the exhibition are underway, all upper Egypt governors have been notified about the event, governor Taha said, adding that the exhibitions are funded by the Commercial Chamber.
The governor made this remarks during his today's meeting representatives of Damietta's small-scale furniture manufacturers, in the presence of Chairman of Chamber of Commerce Mohammed al Zaini.
A 3442-meter square land has been allocated in Qena governorate to host the project, Taha said.
The five remaining governorates will follow suit.
During an earlier meeting, trade minister revealed that a modern lab for testing the furniture quality is due to be opened in Damietta in March.
The trade minister had taken measures to limit importing 50 commodities, including furniture, to avoid allowing importation of such low quality products which affect domestic industries.
