
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has opened registration for students in Hatta to apply for scholarships, which will be awarded to university students enrolled in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or civil engineering degree courses.
The move is part of efforts to support Emirati youth and enhance the capabilities of Emirati talent, in adherence with the Emiratisation strategy. High school students with an average score of over 80% in science are eligible to apply.
Commenting on the announcement, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, said, "The scholarship programme is part of our efforts to achieve the Hatta Comprehensive Development Plan. We taking greater steps towards achieving sustainable development by addressing Hatta’s developmental, societal, economic, and environmental requirements. Through this programme, DEWA will provide Emirati students living in Hatta, with scholarships in the electricity and water sectors. This will ensure sustainable development by involving students in academic programmes, according to the highest international standards, allowing students to become qualified and efficiently contribute to the development of Hatta."
Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, hailed the applicants of the scholarship programme, noting that DEWA takes priority in developing the capabilities of the Emirati youth, while encouraging them to innovate and achieve excellence.
