Dissident SJEM leaders announce participation in Sudan's national dialogue

Dissident leaders of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (SJEM) said Sunday they are ready to take part in the country's national dialogue, slated for October 10.

In a press conference, the leaders said that they split from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM), chaired by Jibril Ibrahim, after the movement "veered off the right track."

The splitting group added that they have returned home voluntarily to contribute to the peace process in the country.

They said that the Justice and Equality Movement is currently suffering from splits.

SJEM Political Secretary Ammar Adam affirmed that his group will participate in the comprehensive national dialogue through the dialogue mechanism and the 7+7 committee, indicating that they were given sufficient guarantees to participate effectively in the national dialogue.

Head of the splitting group Abdul Bagi Hussein said his group considers the peace process in Sudan as a strategic option.
