The Secretary General of the Arab League Dr. Nabil al-Arabai said the transfer in Yemen is facing today the most dangerous challenges since 2011, a matter requires imminent work to provide all support to Yemen to overcome these challenges.
In a high-status meeting for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs held Saturday here under the title "New Partnership for Humanitarian Work and Applied Expertise and Methods in Somalia and Yemen," al-Arabia hoped that the peace agreement sponsored by UN Secretary General's Envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomer could end disputes and turmoil in Yemen.
The United Arab Emirates cooperated in holding the meeting assigned for coordinating regional and international efforts for providing support to Somalia and Yemen.
Al-Arabi warned that transferring toward peace and development will not realize if the gaps in current humanitarian response are continuing because Yemen suffers from huge numbers of internally displaced people in addition to hosting 250 thousands Somali refugees and that half of the Yemeni population depends on humanitarian assistances under the deteriorated water, health and education institutions.
"This humanitarian situation requires inclusive and quick cooperation in all fields in accordance with long-term strategy helps in transformation from short-term relief to dealing with reasons of poverty and deprivation," he added.
While he praised support and assistances provided by friendly countries to Yemen, he argued donors to honor their commitments to support Yemen so as the Yemeni government will be able to perform its duties in this regard.
He stressed on enhancing regional and international cooperation for realizing better humanitarian situation in Yemen, thanking the UAE and the UN Office for initiating this meeting in a time when Somalia and Yemen need international partnership for facing challenges, especially humanitarian.
