
The Customs Department at King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah successfully aborted two attempts to smuggle 1.1kg heroin and cocaine products, and 695 grams of heroin, hidden in the intestines of two passengers arriving in the Kingdom.
Hamoud Al-Falai, director general of customs at KAIA, said that when the investigation and inspection was being carried out on one of the passengers, who had arrived on one of the flights, the customs inspector became suspicious. The suspect was taken for personal inspection, including X-rays, and the result was positive. In his intestines, 99 capsules, or 1.140kg of cocaine was found.
The director general said that in another incident, an attempt to smuggle 695 grams of heroin, also hidden in a passenger’s intestines, was aborted. He said that necessary legal measures have been taken in these cases.
