Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri said on Thursday that Egypt and Algeria face common challenges due to the ongoing situation in the Arab region.
"We follow up the Algerian efforts to bring the Libyan rivals around the negotiating table," Shoukri told reporters following talks with Algerian officials today.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra was keen on briefing Egypt on his country's moves to settle the crisis in Libya, the top Egyptian diplomat said.
He stressed that Egypt supports the Algerian initiative to invite all Libyan factions in Tripoli and Tobruk to sit on the negotiating table.
"Egypt backs the national dialogue and rejects violence and the military option," he added.
