Both the Egyptian government and the Arab League released statements Saturday condemning the acts of violence and terror which are occurring in Iraq, calling on the international community to intensify their counterterrorism efforts in the Middle Eastern country.
Separate statements by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the Arab League condemned the targeting of the innocent civilians and places of worship in Iraq, saying that those acts were considered violations of human rights.
Both entities also called for supporting the Iraqi people's efforts to counter extremism in Iraq, saying that the presence of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) was a threat not only to Iraq by the region and the world.
