Egypt can play a positive role in efforts to solve the Syrian crisis and will be "accepted from all", said a member of a panel in charge of a Cairo-hosted conference.
"Cairo does not interfere in the course of the negotiations among Syrian opposition factions. It instead provides support for all parties," Gihad Maqdisi told Sky News Arabia.
He voiced hope that the Syrian government will respond to the outcome of the Cairo gathering.
The conferees wanted "the military confrontations in Syria to turn into political discussions" he said.
He asserted that any political solution to the crisis will be welcomed by the majority of Syrians.
