Egypt has expressed concern about what seems to be a tensed political situation in Lebanon.
Cairo fully supports Beirut in its efforts to achieve stability in Lebanon, a statement by the Foreign Ministry said Monday.
There is a need to support the Lebanese government regardless of any political disputes, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Badr Abdel Aati called on all political powers in Lebanon to activate government action in order to protect constitutional institutions of the country and to prevent any vacuum that might very well jeopardize state stability.
He touched upon tumultuous regional circumstances that entail action to curb internal crises.
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry had telephoned Lebanese Prime Minister Tamam Salam and voiced Egypt's support for Lebanon's stability.
Shoukry urged the Lebanese people to agree on a president as soon as possible in order to restore order in the country.
