Egypt has delivered the first part of a humanitarian aid convoy donated by Syrian figures in Cairo to the Syrian besieged city of Duma, the chargé d'affaires of the Egyptian Embassy in Damascus said Friday.
The aid had been handed over to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) two weeks ago, and was delivered Friday morning in coordination with the United Nations and SARC, Mohamed Tharwat Selim said.
It has been reported that people in Duma have been going through difficult humanitarian conditions, the diplomat added.
The aid contains amounts of wheat, the main ingredient for food in Syria as it is used to bake bread.
Duma residents, for their part, voiced appreciation for the Egyptian mission's keenness to reach their city and deliver the aid they badly needed.
This convoy is not the last one, the Egyptian diplomat noted, stressing that Egypt plans to pass more aid to all besieged areas in Syria.
