Egypt elected president of AFCAC

Egypt has been elected president of the new three-year session of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC).

During the AFCAC's 25th session, which concluded Thursday in Cairo, Vice President of Egypt's Civil Aviation Authority Hani el Adawy was chosen the chairman of the organization for three years.

Also, Tunisia, Senegal, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea and Botswana were elected as vice presidents of the AFCAC, while Kenya, Congo, Tanzania, Cape Verde and Libya were nominated as members of the organization's council.

For his part, Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said Egypt was elected as a result of its efforts and leading role in the civil aviation field in the continent.

It reflects the regional and international position of the air transport industry in Egypt, he added.

After taking office, Adawy pledged to promote cooperation among African countries in the civil aviation field under Egypt's presidency of AFCAC's new session.
