Egypt, Iraq discuss 'yellow transfers' of Egyptian workers

President of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation Gebali el Maraghi said he agreed with Iraqi Labor Minister Mohammed Shaia'a Sudani on speeding up measures of sending the financial dues of former Egyptian workers, widely known as "yellow transfers".

El Maraghi said he agreed with the Iraqi minister on sending the rest if the entitlements after a meeting with him.

This came on the sidelines of Maraghi's participation in the fourth emergency session of the central council of the Central Council of the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU), held in Baghdad.

The transfers belong to the assets the Egyptians lost in Iraq during the Gulf War over two decades ago. These funds are being returned to Egyptians after a deal was brokered with the Iraqi government.
