Egypt main supporters of Palestinian cause at international arenas

Egypt will always be the main supporter of the Palestinian cause at international events, Palestinian lawmaker and Secretary General of the Palestinian People's Party Bassam al Salehi said.

With Egypt's membership at the United Nations Security Council, the Palestinian cause will become a priority to the international community after a period of absence due to the current situation in the region and Arab world, Salehi told MENA correspondent here.

Egypt, through its international relations with Russia, China and other world countries, will be representing the Palestinian cause and an active player in the decisions of those countries regarding the Palestinian conflict, he said.

The Palestinian people are depending on Egypt's leading role in the region and world, he said.

Speaking about a meeting of Palestinian factions in Gaza held yesterday, he hailed the gathering as a step towards unifying Palestinian ranks, expressing surprise over Hamas' absence.
