
Visiting Egyptian President Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday urged for real understanding between Algeria and Egypt on bilateral and regional issues, APS news agency reported.
Upon his arrival at Algiers Airport, Al-Sisi told reporters that his visit to Algeria aims at "launch a genuine understanding and a unified vision over issues of common interest and the challenges facing the two countries and the region."
Al-Sisi added that "there are a number of strategic topics and issues that require Egypt and Algeria to work together on them, and my visit aims at initiating such a work in the coming days."
Concerning counterterrorism cooperation between Algeria and Egypt, the Egyptian president said this issue "needs more work to coordinate positions and meet the challenge."
He concluded that during his meeting with President Bouteflika, he would also discuss several other issues including the crisis in Libya.
Abdulfattah Al-Sisi arrived in Algeria on Wednesday to pay a short visit to this North African nation, at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart.
Al-Sisi made a stop in Algeria as part of his trip to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to participate in the 23rd Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit due on June 26 and 27.
A statement issued by the Presidency Office said the talks between Bouteflika and Al-Sisi focus on "boosting brotherhood and cooperation ties between the two countries and address a number of regional and international issues, including the situation in the Arab world and Africa."
The Egypt was the largest Arab and African investor in Algeria in 2009, with investment totaling 7 billion U.S. dollars from some 48 firms. At present, some 17 Egyptian firms are investing in Algeria.
