Egypt reopens Rafah crossing for 2 days

Egypt on Sunday temporarily reopened Rafah crossing point on the borders with the Gaza Strip for two days, officials in Gaza said.
The Gaza Crossings and Borders Corporation said in an official statement that the crossing was reopened for Sunday and Monday to enable stranded Palestinians on both sides to travel.
"Those who will travel from Gaza to Egypt through Rafah crossing are patients who need urgent medical therapy, students and Palestinians who hold dual nationality," said the statement.
Rafah crossing, some 1.8 million Palestinians' only window to the outside world, was closed on Oct. 25, when Egypt declared a state of emergency in the neighboring Sinai Peninsula after a deadly bombing attack there killed over 30 Egyptian soldiers.
The Gaza Strip has been under Israeli blockade since the Hamas movement took over the enclave by force in June 2007.
Gaza residents have since been suffering from restrictions on free travel and movement, according to Gaza-based right groups.
