Culture Minister Abdel Wahed el Nabawi congratulated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the political leadership in Egypt on the inauguration of the New Suez Canal.
Egypt is rejoicing today at the inauguration of this great project, Nabawi said, praying to Allah to protect Egypt and its people.
The New Suez Canal is a source of pride to all Egyptians because it symbolizes their unified effort to dig the waterway.
Citizens from all governorates are invited to attend the ceremony, Nabawi said, also pointing out to a large international participation at the level of heads of state.
This is a strong proof of Egypt's successful internal policy and of the citizens' cooperation with the political leadership, Nabawi noted.
The Suez Canal is as good as a "safety valve" for Egypt's economic future, the minister said.
It is an important crossing of international trade that adds to Egypt's regional status and opens the door to more investments, Nabawi said.
