Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Saturday met with all of his assistants to follow up the blast that hit a checkpoint in North Sinai on Friday killing and injuring dozens of soldiers.
In the meeting, Shoukry directed the assistants and the Egyptian ambassadors abroad to take immediate and effective actions to get the entire world acquainted with dimensions of the vicious attack's gravity, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel-Atti said.
The minister urged the ambassadors to stress the importance of denouncing such attack and supporting Egypt's war against terrorism by the whole world, pointing out that failing to do so serves the interests of the terrorist groups, Abdel-Atti added.
The spokesperson noted that Shoukry directed his assistants to summon all foreign ambassadors to Egypt to inform them that the presidential decree declaring the emergency status in North Sinai and blocking Rafah crossing was for purely security considerations.
