
New Local Development Minister Ahmed Zaki Badr should work hard on several urgent issues topped by preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, slated for October 17-18.
Badr has to ensure securing electoral HQs across the country to avoid marring the elections.
After the parliamentary elections, the minister has then to gear up for municipal elections.
He will also have to work on key files concerning assessing performance of governors, appointing assistants to governors, combating corruption in municipalities, applying the local administration law which bestows many powers on governors, applying non-centralization system and finalizing demarcation of borders between governorates.
The minister has to also to strain to accomplish the national project for social and local development which aims at encouraging youths to invest.
