Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar has delivered a speech in the graduation ceremony of a new batch of Police Academy.
Addressing the audience, who attended the ceremony on Wednesday, Abdel Ghaffar first welcomed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, saying it is an honor to have him as a new group of loyal police officers start their practical career.
The fresh graduates will complete the national security course started generations ago and will act to support Egypt's security and stability regardless of the sacrifices, the minister said.
Security is a job of a "noble message" that is meant to achieve progress and prosperity, Abdel Ghaffar said.
The police establishment is well aware of challenges and threats to Egypt's security, he told the attendees.
Those risks are gaining more ground even as Egyptians, under the leadership of President Sisi, are achieving more success in a record time, the minister said.
Those success stories should place Egypt in a leading and pivotal regional and international position, he noted.
Indeed, terrorism is the region's No. one threat, he acknowledged.
Addressing Sisi, Abdel Ghaffar said: "You have always warned of threats of religious extremism and its repercussions."
President Sisi has always pointed out that terrorism is a threat to stability and that it undermines peace and development efforts, he added.
The minister also reminded of repeated calls by Sisi for an international and a regional consensus to get to the root of the problem.
The Egyptian police vow to exert utmost efforts and make sacrifices in order to counter challenges facing Egypt, Abdel Ghaffar said.
Talking to the graduates, the minister congratulated them on having this honor to join the police apparatus.
He urged them to honor their oath and to be always ready to work hard and sacrifice their lives for the sake of the nation.
