Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri held talks with his Moroccan counterpart Salaheddine Mezouar Saturday on the security situation in the occupied Palestinian territories in the wake of violence in the West Bank.
The two top diplomats asserted that the escalation in the occupied territories resulted from stalemate of negotiations, the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and expansionist policies, a statement by the foreign ministry said.
Shukri and Mezouar condemned violent acts against innocent civilians, and urged the Israeli authorities to investigate the murder of Palestinian Mohammad Abu Khudair to bring the killers to justice.
They also discussed the developments in Iraq and the importance of achieving a political solution in the country that would include all political forces with the objective of confronting terrorism and extremism.
They also called on the importance of the political solution in Syria with the aim of honoring aspirations of the Syrian people in a manner that safeguarded the country's territorial unity and sovereignty, noted the statement.
Shukri and Mezouar meanwhile congratulated the Libyan government for the recent parliamentary elections, and said Egypt and Morocco were keen on stability and security of the north African country.
